For your drinking pleasure, here is one more Ironman Hawaii-inspired smoothie recipe that we haven't been able to get out the door just yet...hey, we've been busy.  And that's a good thing.

We love this recipe because it is creamy and smooth, and the coconut milk gives it a distinct island flavor.  Though coconut is all the rage these days as a "healthy" source of fat, remember that it is nearly 100% fat, and almost all of it is saturated.  Now there is still a lot of debate about whether saturated fat is good, bad, or somewhere in between, but remember, there is no-debate that fat contains a lot of calories, and eating too much of it is just introducing more calories into your diet.  It's simple math...eat more calories than you burn = weight gain; burn more calories than you eat = weight loss.

For this recipe we like to use "coconut beverage" as the base - this is what you will see in most grocery stores in the refrigerated milk section, then use about a tablespoon or two of "coconut milk" - which you will typically find canned, often in the asian food section of a grocery store (it's what you'd use for a coconut curry).  Coconut beverage has little to no fat, and if you get the unsweetened variety, it has very little sugar or carbs.

We also like to add in a tablespoon of shredded coconut or a few frozen coconut chunks (Trader Joe's has this!) for a little texture.

Enjoy!

Recipe

2 Scoops Primo Smoothie Powder

4 oz cold brew coffee (or 2 shots espresso)

6-8 oz unsweetened vanilla coconut beverage

1-2 tablespoons coconut milk

1 small, ripe banana

1 tablespoon shredded (or a few chunks frozen) coconut

Blend and enjoy!
