Cherry, coffee, coconut water protein smoothie recipe to increase energy and keep you fueled

It's not athletes and people pushing their active lifestyle that are using our protein smoothies on a daily basis.  The other day we got an email from a chef in Los Angeles who has worked in kitchens across both LA and San Francisco about his favorite go-to smoothie recipe.  

Being a chef isn't easy, it's long hours on your feet going non-stop in an intense and often physically hot environment.  Getting proper nutrition to keep you going is essential.  Ironically, in an environment when you are literally surrounded by great food, getting something to eat can be the hardest thing to do.  Water water everywhere and not a drop to drink!

But having a smoothie with all the nutrition you need to get you through a shift is the perfect solution.  Steal a sip here and steal a sip there, and before you know it you've eaten a complete meal without ever breaking pace.  And don't think that busy chefs are the only ones that can benefit in this way...nowadays I think we can all relate to this scenario.

So what's the secret recipe, literally?

Cherry peanut buzz

-12 oz coconut water or milk

-1/2 cup frozen cherries

-heaping teaspoon instant coffee 

-heaping tablespoon salted peanut butter

-2 scoops Primo Smoothie Mix 

Blend and go get stuff done!

We love the combination of coconut water for extra hydration and a little caffeine for that energy kick!  And adding a little peanut butter to any smoothie is never a bad idea, both for flavor and texture.  I bet almond butter is also a great choice here!
